What’s in the parts database

AI Boat Buddy maintains a parts database covering 14,500+ marine engines and 27,000+ spare parts. We track OEM part numbers, cross-references between brands, fitment data (which engine a part fits), and current pricing from suppliers including Brownspoint, DiscountMarine, MarineDiesel, and SVB24. The database is strongest on North American outboards and sterndrives: OMC is the single largest brand in it with 3,000 engines, ahead of Yamaha with 2,800 and Mercury with 2,500, and MerCruiser, Johnson and Evinrude add another 1,500 between them. Volvo Penta is the best-covered European brand with 1,400 engines, followed by Honda and Suzuki with more than 400 each.

How brokers use the parts database

When you’re brokering a boat with an aging engine, knowing parts availability and replacement cost helps you set realistic asking prices and avoid post-sale disputes. For high-hour engines, we show which service items are due (impellers, anodes, water pumps, alternators) and what they cost. For older models, we flag parts that are discontinued or hard to source.

Limitations

European inboard diesels are our thinnest area. Volvo Penta is well covered, but Yanmar has 279 engines, Vetus 22 and Bukh 6 — and Nanni, Mariner and Force are not in the database at all. Tohatsu has two. We would rather tell you that now than let you search and find nothing. We do not sell parts directly — we are a data and indexing service.
