Suzuki DF15 Oil & Filter Change

Tools Needed

• 8 mm socket
• 10 mm socket
• Pick (optional)
• Oil extractor hose
• Funnel
• Handheld pump
• New oil filter
• New O-ring
• New gaskets for screws

Safety

• Ensure the engine is cool before starting.
• Be cautious when handling oil to avoid spills.

Steps

1. Remove the cowling to access the engine.
2. Take off the rubber gasket.
3. Use an 8 mm socket to remove the side panels.
4. On models with power trim and tilt, remove the plug using a pick for easier access.
5. Remove the fuel filter to access the oil filter.
6. Use a 10 mm socket to take off the oil filter cover and remove the oil filter.
7. Take out the dipstick and insert the extractor hose into the dipstick tube.
8. Pump out all the old oil using the extractor hose.
9. Install the new oil filter and swap out the O-ring in the cover.
10. Ensure the arrow on the cover is facing down when reinstalling.
11. Reassemble everything the way you found it.
12. Add fresh oil using a funnel, checking the sticker on the motorhead for the recommended type and quantity.
13. Double-check the dipstick to ensure it's properly filled.
14. Slide an oil pan underneath the lower unit to keep things clean.
15. Remove both screws at the bottom of the lower head.
16. Replace the gaskets and reinstall the screws.

Tips

• Taking off the tubes makes the job easier, although it's not necessary.
• Use Suzuki XAR 10W40 oil for the engine and Suzuki Xar gear oil for the gear case.
