Suzuki DF70 Oil & Filter Change

Tools Needed

• 8-mm Allen wrench
• Oil filter pliers
• Funnel
• Rags
• Fill bucket

Safety

• Ensure the engine is cool before starting the oil change.
• Wear gloves to protect your hands from oil and debris.

Steps

1. Locate the drain plug on the right side of the engine, halfway down to the lower unit.
2. Using an 8-mm Allen wrench, crack and remove the drain plug to allow the oil to drain.
3. While the oil is draining, place rags under the oil filter to catch any oil or debris.
4. Remove the old oil filter using oil filter pliers, as it is located in a difficult spot.
5. Lubricate the seal of the new oil filter with a small amount of oil.
6. Thread the new oil filter into place by hand, ensuring it is tight but not overly tight.
7. Once the oil has finished draining, replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.
8. Fill the engine with oil, using a funnel to pour in 4.2 US quarts (1 gallon) of 10W-40 four-stroke marine oil.
9. Check the oil level using the dipstick, located on the right side of the engine with a yellow tab.
10. Start the engine and let it run for a few seconds to ensure the oil passes through the system.
11. Turn off the engine and allow it to settle for a few seconds before checking the oil level again.

Tips

• Use old oil filter pliers to help loosen the oil filter, as it is difficult to access.
• Be cautious not to overtighten the oil filter or drain plug, as this can cause issues during the next oil change.
• Check the oil level frequently while filling to avoid overfilling the engine.
