Yanmar 3GM30 Oil & Filter Change

Tools Needed

• 7/8 inch wrench
• 14 mm socket
• Oil filter wrench
• 6 mil trash bag
• Gloves
• Zip tie

Safety

• Wear gloves to minimize mess and protect hands.
• Ensure the engine is cool before starting the service.

Steps

1. Loosen the oil cap on the crankcase to allow air in and speed up the draining process.
2. Place a 6 mil trash bag under the engine to catch the oil.
3. Remove the drain plug using a 14 mm socket.
4. Allow the oil to drain completely into the bag.
5. Use an oil filter wrench to remove the oil filter, ensuring minimal oil loss.
6. Inspect the oil filter for any signs of wear or damage.
7. Clean the engine block where the oil filter was seated to remove any residual gasket material.
8. Lubricate the new oil filter's O-ring with engine oil.
9. Install the new oil filter by hand, turning it clockwise until it is snug, then using the wrench to tighten it one full turn.
10. Reinstall the drain plug and tighten it securely.
11. Dispose of the old oil and filter responsibly, following local regulations.

Tips

• Use Yanmar-specific oil filters to ensure a proper fit and compatibility with the engine.
• Run the engine for 10-15 minutes after the service to ensure the system is properly bled and there are no air pockets.
