Yamaha F6 Anode Replacement

Tools Needed

• M10 socket
• Phillips head screwdriver
• Air pliers (optional)
• Warm water for testing

Safety

• Ensure the engine is cool before starting.
• Be cautious with the grounded bolt.

Steps

1. Remove the cowl by unscrewing the three M10 bolts.
2. Take note of the water outlet and any other components for proper reassembly.
3. Remove the thermostat housing by unscrewing the bolts, ensuring the grounded bolt is noted.
4. Move any cables out of the way to access the anode and thermostat.
5. Unscrew the anode using a Phillips head screwdriver.
6. Remove the thermostat using air pliers if necessary.
7. Clean the thermostat and check for any buildup or corrosion.
8. Test the thermostat in warm water to ensure it opens correctly.
9. Replace the anode with a new one if available.
10. Replace the thermostat and the gasket.
11. Reassemble the thermostat housing with the new gasket.
12. Reattach the cowl with the three M10 bolts, including the grounded bolt.

Tips

• A fairly new engine should not have significant issues with the thermostat or anode.
• The replacement gasket is made of a cork-like material.
• The job is easy to do yourself with basic tools.
